“Remove the dross from the silver, and a silversmith can produce a vessel;” Proverbs 25:4
For metal to have value, its dross must be removed. Dross is often the unwanted impurities that normally float on top of molten metals. We can only be useful if we remove all the unwanted stuff and present ourselves pure before God. When life gets hot and difficult, the human tendency is to run from the heat. James suggests that we should; “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” James 1:2-3. God may be allowing the heat to bring the best out of you.
God is at work daily refining and removing the dross in our lives so we can become vessels for His glory and reflectors of His image to the world. Keep your eyes on God regardless of what you go through. “for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.” Phil 2:13.
