Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.” 3 John 1:2
What do you pray for your friends and those around you? Remember Samuel’s words from yesterday’s devotion; “ As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by failing to pray for you.” He was committing to pray for Saul and the people he led. In today’s verse we see not only a commitment to pray but also the contents of the prayer.
What we pray is the basis of our outlook towards others. John prayed for his friend to enjoy good health and that all may go well with the friend. Such prayer is the basis of goodwill towards others leading to two things. First, by our prayer we commend friends to God’s sufficient grace and mercy. Second, by prayer through the Holy Spirit within us, we entreat Gods goodness to manifest blessings in others.
Enjoy praying for others. Who are you praying for this week. Let them know. Those you pray for you grow closer to.
Blessings
