“When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth.” Matthew 19:22
According to the Collins dictionary touching a raw nerve, means you upsetting someone by talking about something that they feel strongly about or are very sensitive about. When Jesus mentioned possessions the young man walked away. He failed at the one test which would have led him to the heights of that which was desiring. After exhibiting and eager and earnest passion for God he was troubled by the master’s proposition.
The English standard version says “Disheartened by the saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.” What about you? What is that one area from which you feel the gospel must stay away? Do you have a raw nerve, when it comes to your walk of faith? Make Him Lord over all or He is not Lord at all. Surrender all to Him withholding nothing. It is a matter of the heart.
