THE GENEROSITY TEST

When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” When he heard this, he became very sad, because he was very wealthy.” Luke 18:22-23 

When giving became the ultimate test this young man who grew up under strict religious traditions failed. Many people find it easy to serve God with everything else except their resources. Others are happy to serve God but when it comes to generosity and serving others selfishness starts to kick in.

Clearly from these verses we learn that as believers we ought to be generous, and to never allow anything interfere with our wholehearted devotion to the Lord Jesus. We also learn that it is the  Master who sets out the terms of salvation not us. Remember the word says “.., whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” We serve God by serving others.
