“If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; if he is thirsty, give him water to drink.” Proverbs 25:21
In this life, some people are going to dislike you, not because of something that you will have done to them, but because of various jealous envy and other reactions that are common with human nature apart from Christ. Remember Paul’s instruction; “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” Gal 6:10. Jesus’s view was that we should love our enemies and those who persecute us.
Jesus knew and knows that it’s difficult to love those people who seek to obstruct us, those who say evil things about us and desire to see us destroyed. “Those who are difficult to love, are difficult to love because they have gone through difficult things which have made them the way they are. What you need to do is to forgive, what they need is your love.” Jeanette Coron
