POWER TO WITNESS

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Acts 1:8 

These were the words of Jesus Christ to His disciples. He told His inquisitive disciples to focus on the promise of the Holy Spirit. He promised the Holy Spirit who would give the them the power to be witnesses. We can’t claim to be faithful while that which we were empowered to do is off our radars. 

In the Greek language, the word for witnesses is the same word , from which we get the English word martyr. It speaks of  being committed to Jesus no matter the cost and speaking up for him even in face of opposition. A witness is one who is so confident of the gospel, that person would rather give his life than deny the truth of their personal experience. That is what the Lord empowered you to be.
