“Didn’t it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn’t the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied just to human beings but to God.” Acts 5:4
The temptation to impress and portray a false image is a huge trap. In the verse above a couple was rebuked for trying to mislead and make other believers think that they were great givers. They wanted to inflate people’s view of their spirituality. After they saw the great generosity of Barnabas and how well he was respected (Acts 4:36-37), Ananias and Sapphira decided they wanted to receive the same respect.
The love for public respect led them to sin. Whatever we do must Not be with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart. Eph 6:6. Be true to God. Serve Him truthfully. God’s expectation concerning our service towards His Kingdom is that we serve with the mindset of one serving God and not impressing man. No pressure serve God freely.
