“But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.” Matthew 5:44-45
God clearly shape us that His kingdom is built on relationships. Relating with one other is not a walk in the park. Offences, violations and let downs do come. When there has been a fall out in a relationship everyone wants to clear their side. Others want to get even with their offenders of violators. Out of this, we have seen people subscribing to the back to sender teaching. This is a teaching that basically encourages revenge or getting even with your adversary though in a subtle way.
Remember we are more like our father when we love everyone including those that mistreat us. Let us not forget that God says “Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.” Rom 12:17, 19.
As God’s offspring, we do have a responsibility to love everyone. Some people may choose to be your enemies but do your best to keep your side of the relationship clean and positive. Not everyone needs to hear your side of the story. Let yours be to do what the word says and leave the rest to God.
