”I well remember them, and my soul is downcast within me. Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.“
‭‭Lamentations‬ ‭3‬:‭20‬-‭22‬ ‭

In the middle of challenges and crises Jeremiah’s soul was downcast. Noticing the challenging realities around him there seemed to be no hope for him. However in continuous meditation he awoke to the fact that he was still alive and well. It occurred to him that though the enemy had brought harm to the nation he  as a person was not harmed. How come ? How could this be ?  His answer: Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. Bad as my case is, it might have been worse, for I might have been consumed, and I should have been consumed if the Lord’s compassions had failed.’  (Spurgeon)

That is one truth that we cannot deny. God’s compassions never fail. ”They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.“ Lam‬ ‭3‬:‭23‬. As we journey in 2024 let us continue to be aware of God’s accompanying presence. Let us trust Him whose presence will sustain us. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. ”Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” Prov‬ ‭16‬:‭3‬. Let go and let God rest in His enabling grace and see Him at work. His gracious and tender compassion is never absent.
