Journey Through Psalms # 35

“They do not speak peaceably, but devise false accusations against those who live quietly in the land. Awake, and rise to my defense! Contend for me, my God and Lord.” Psalms‬ ‭35‬:‭20‬, ‭23‬ ‭

Psalm 35 is among imprecatory psalms: which are prayers or songs requesting the Lord's immediate destruction of an enemy. New Testament believers have a different standard. With what Christ’s death accomplished we are commanded to pray for the salvation of those who make themselves our enemies. 

Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.” Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭17‬-‭18‬. We called to a life of peace. When I e face challenges of people that provoke us towards conflict we do not react like they did in the Old Testament. Ours is to seek peace.
