“Send me your light and your faithful care, let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell. Then I will go to the altar of God, to God, my joy and my delight. I will praise you with the lyre, O God, my God.”Psalms 43:3-4
In the word light of the Lord represents His presence or the knowledge of His truth. In the wilderness the Lord provided guidance by the pillar of fire which provided the light to Israel and was also a sign of His caring presence. The Psalmist is asking for this kind of light from the Lord. In this life all we need is the guiding and caring presence of God.
The light and faithful care of God in our day is found in our relationship with the Spirit. God's Spirit guides believers. He is the anointing that teaches us all things and keeps us focused on Jesus who is both the guiding light and the caring shepherd. All we need to do is to keep our eyes on Jesus Christ.
