David was committed pleasing God. As part of this commitment he sought not to have close association with people who were opposed to the Lord. This practice is set forth as one of the requirements of those who would be dwellers of God’s house. “..who despises a vile person but honors those who fear the Lord; ..; Ps. ‭15‬:‭4‬ ‭

Believers can  never be completely out of touch with this world but godly boundaries that safeguard the  faith are important. Remember: Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm. Pr 13:20. The people we allow to influence our decisions become a part of who we become. Jesus expects the believers to be the salt of the world but He wants them  to know that being in the is not a  license to entertain worldly company.
