Our acculturation these days says be grateful for what you get. Unfortunately this mindset has become a perception applied to God. We seem to mainly and sometimes only think about appreciating God for what He gives and does. The psalmist reminds of another important dimension of appreciating God for who He is.

As God’s children we can appreciate Him for who He is. Out of who He is God does and gives that which is good.  He remains faithful for he cannot deny himself. We need to know this truth. Having a knowledge of this truth brings us closer to Him and brings Him glory. It deepens our worship  for Him and enhances our understanding of the nature of our spiritual relationship with Him.
