It does not, therefore, depend on human desire or effort, but on God’s mercy.” Romans 9:16
It was Paul who wrote “But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.” 1 Cor 15:10. Who we have become in Christ is because of God’s grace. Desire and effort may be important variables in shaping life’s outcomes but we need to embrace the fact that part from God we cannot be anything.
In God’s hands we are in good hands. We should continue to avail ourselves to the outworking grace of God in order that he may continue to work in us. “For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.” Phil 2:13. What a blessing to be at the mercy of God whose agenda is without malice.
