“Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.” Luke 18:1

Persistence in prayer is encouraged several times in scripture. Believers should pray always and not give up. Prayer is not a convenience but a commitment. It is not to be a habit but a heartbeat. It is not predicated on feelings but on faith.  Writing to the Thessalonians Paul’s encouragement was “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thess 5:16-18) In circumstances those who trust God have a reason to pray, rejoice and give thanks. This is so because to them life is not driven by what happens but by faith in God.

This will be true for believers who pray not only to get but also to become. For besides the result of answered prayers prayer also deepens our relationship with Christ. Don’t give up keep praying. Life may present valid reasons for one to give up prayer but keep at it. Pray.
