Distracted Worship

“The Lord says: “These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is based on merely human rules they have been taught.” Isaiah 29:13 

In the verse above God warns people who pay lip service in worship. These people had the correct outward posture but lacked the requisite inward passion. They would be physically present in a worship service while being spiritually absent from the presence of God. This happens when we become 

• conscious of our appearance in a worship service than our attention to God
• concerned with the atmosphere more than we concerned with being  attentive to God. 
• consumed by the process of worship more than with God the person of our worship.

Remember being present in a worship service is no guarantee to being in a Gods presence. According to Jesus “true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.” John 4:23.
