Be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid of them! The LORD, your God, will go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor forsake you." Deut 31:6 (NLT)             In the New Living translation of the Bible, the phrase "Be strong and courageous," is found in 14 different verses. This combination is significant because often when a person feels weak, the next thing is the lack of courage. The basis of being strong in these verses is the guiding presence and the consistency of God. Growing up in the village, nothing gave me assurance as having an adult leading the way in the bush. In such a situation, I knew no matter what we faced the adult leading the way would put my safety first. In the same way our God goes before us, He leads the way while we courageously follow. Courage is a necessity because of the menacing opposition and obstacles of life’s challenges. Facing challenges with courage is a demonstration of faith. God, by His grace, makes sure you are safe in His arms. Your part is to stand on the promise of His accompanying presence and trust Him to see you through.           I am reminded of the words of Apostle Paul, “Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labour in the Lord is not in vain” (1 Cor 15:58). We stand firm because we know that he who did not hold back His Son, but gave him for our redemption, will give us victory in this life.

POWER THOUGHT OF THE DAY

The reason for trusting God is because you don’t have to sweat out what Jesus bled for. Like some like to say; if Jesus dies for it you don’t have to die from it.
