The Lord gave this command to Joshua son of Nun: "Be strong and courageous, for you will bring the Israelites into the land I promised them on oath, and I myself will be with you” Deut 31:23

Joshua has a task of bringing the Israelites into the Promised Land. God challenges Joshua to be strong for the sake of the assignment. God promises His personal presence as we have seen and mentioned in many places in this devotional. God’s accompanying presence was the key to Joshua’s success. What God has commissioned his children to accomplish is a source of motivation and strength. Joshua won phenomenal battles in the process of inheriting Canaan as God strengthened him. That which God has begun will be completed. Given God’s assignment, there is a need to find encouragement in that God acts on what he promises. His people can be strong and withstand any wind or storm on account of learning to trust God. God gives Joshua the picture of the end. What this means is, whatever happens to Joshua if the end has not been experienced, Joshua had no reason to fear. From this, we learn that the promises of God will always be fulfilled.
