He appointed twelve that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach” Mark‬ ‭3:14‬ ‭ The first duty of any follower of Jesus Christ is to be with Him. From the book of Acts we read these words “When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.” Acts‬ ‭4:13‬. The fact that they had been with Jesus was evident somehow in their lives. Clearly we must understand that communion precedes commission. Which goes to show that our first school of ministry so being with Jesus. For He said “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit-fruit that will last ....” John‬ ‭15:16‬. ‭We are called to be with Him before going for Him.
