Be Good
He was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith, and a great number of people were brought to the Lord. Then Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul,” Acts 11:24-25
Barnabas had a reputation of being good. To be good means being of a favorable character or being beneficial. God by His spirit has given those born of Him the capacity to be good. This includes the believer being a sweet fragrance pleasing to others as well as to God.
This why Paul was able to say to the Romans “I myself am convinced, my brothers and sisters, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with knowledge and competent to instruct one another.” Rom 15:14
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” Rom 12:21. Barnabas never held any position of influence but he was a person of influence. His goodness was not out of official duty but out of personal desire.
- being good makes you pleasant.
- being good makes you personable.
- being good makes you productive.
