“Nabal answered David’s servants, “Who is this David? Who is this son of Jesse? Many servants are breaking away from their masters these days. Why should I take my bread and water, and the meat I have slaughtered for my shearers, and give it to men coming from who knows where?” 1 Samuel 25:10-11
Nabal missed an opportunity to do good because he felt David was too low for him. How could he attend to a mere slave? We do good to people not because of who they are but because of who we are. Any person in need is a neighbor qualifying for our attention.
Hebrews puts it well, “Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.” Heb 13:2.
You never know who you are being good.
