Avoid the wedges
“lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby the many be defiled;” Hebrews 12:15
“that no advantage may be gained over us by Satan: for we are not ignorant of his devices.” 2 Corinthians 2:11
Paul’s encouragement is that believers should walk in forgiveness giving no room to offenses. What is done to us should not be the basis of our operation. Offenses are used by the enemy. His strategy includes putting a distance between brethren using offenses. This is easy because offenses drive wedges into relationships and cause divisions leading some to live in isolation.
Once this happens the offended basks in self pity self righteousness and self protection. We all know a self centered life does nothing for kingdom economics. Do not let yesterday’s hurts rob you of tomorrow’s friends. Learn to forgive and move on. Don’t fall short of the grace of God on account of what people have done to you, just remember what God did for you.
